Take a tour of East Africas biggest butterfly zoo, as you witness varying species in every stage of their amazing life-cycle within a fascinating tropical garden environment. About 400-600 butterflies live in a richly vegetate daviary, about 30 x 20 m tall. Inspect the tiny butterfly eggs, touch and hold the hungry caterpillars and watch them nibble away at the leaves. Admire the beauty of the butterfly pupae before witnessing them open up to hatch. This is a project initiative for a sustainable environment; the butterflies are all native to Zanzibar. ZBC works closely with the Jozani ChwakaBay National Park, Jozani Environmental Convervation Association (JECA) and Pete Development Association (PDA). Zanzibar Butterfly Centre is 4.3km from the centre of Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park; the nearest airport is 21.6km (Zanzibar International Airport).
